Why has nobody picked up on the pun in Panel 1?
"Another loose end" and "Kerri" about 30 seconds after she was about to get a coffee enema (hopefully, that's was ALL that was in there. The question is, does she take it double-double {AKA "NATO Standard" - a coffee with two creams and two sugars. A Canadian inside joke}?)...
If that's not a "pot and kettle" situation, especially considering Donna's promiscuity, AND her predilection for multiple concurrent partners, then I don't know what is... lol
The contrasts between Donna as woebegone employee and Donna as surrounded-by-idiots boss are an intentional structural choice for this work. There's probably something similar (though not as blatant) going there in the promiscuity department too.
Also "NATO standard" ha ha ha that's funny, does it tumble when it hits you in the guts, maybe that's dependent on who's making the pot?
"Who makes the pot" does make a big difference. One of my (US Army) section sergeants in Germany was prior service Navy...and somehow, when he made the coffee, it always came out better -- even while apparently using the same supplies. I don't know if he just added the supposed pinch of salt to the grounds or what other magic he performed; they know their coffee in the Navy. I was pretty much the minority in my company, drinking it "NATO Standard", the rest of them drank it black.
being um associated with a certain "canoe club" I can say that Navy sure doesn't have a lock on good coffee skills
it's usually the junior guy who does that stuff and god damn the brew can be downright inconsistent
(on the flip side, I don't think you can actually make the more senior enlisted ranks if you suck at making coffee. glad you served with one of the skilled ones)
Canada "deployed" a Tim Horton's franchise to Kandahar Air Field during our time in that war. The staff were civilians, who had to go through some training first. The staff were even awarded campaign medals, since they were serving in a war zone.
Tim Horton';s, even though it's now owned by a multi-national conglomerate, is pretty much a Canadian institution. It helps that it was started by a beloved hockey player (who tragically lost his life ina auto collision) in a lunch-bucket town (my home city).
but yes, that other thing too
Or Smart.
and not in a "can we talk about it" kinda way
Also, nice field of depth effect with the characters in the first panel!
and I'll be real
lazy, it's faster to "paint" characters than to do the usual ink-fill-shade, especially when you want to add them last minute"Another loose end" and "Kerri" about 30 seconds after she was about to get a coffee enema (hopefully, that's was ALL that was in there.
