I have to admit, your breadcrumb leaves more questions than it answers...
(I guess the primary take home message is that Gus knew Donna's mother too, and had some kind of beef with her...? Was she a Russian spy or something??)
Regarding the Russian angle, which I think is what her name (tattooed in Cyrillic!) and her simple speech pattern are hinting at, let me leave a link here too:
When I think of Russians in the LIR-verse, I think first and foremost... of these two people!
Tough question! A Donna Panks-led cheerleading squad scored an Honorable Mention at State in 2010, so that makes this 1991. So Anastasia could indeed be the last Soviet spy in Anvil Flats!
Except she's very very obviously Russian, so she's either playing some sort of contemptuously twisted reverse psychology thing or she's not a spy. The fact that she hooks up with and has a kid with a used car salesman would suggest one of these.
Re: breadcrumbs. Does this mean that Donna and Sonja have a common ancestor?
Is SONJA Donna's mom? I know that the tramp stamp doesn't make an appearance in W&L, but that's what lasers are for...

And while I'd like to attribute that sentiment to Mr. Alexander, I think he's proven a quite capable meddler.
And... well... and that. (Renegades Cover)

"you're in the Army, do you know so-and-so?"there's a lot of Russians man
which is my way of saying I won't commit to any connections between these characters because I don't have anything neatly planned
edit: some sort of relationship to Grigori & Sonia would be suggested by Eric's loose monitoring of Donna... ugh
