I dunno.
I find them to be entertaining, for the most part, but, I think they might serve better as chapter bookends or official intermissions over showing up sporadically in the course of the storyline. Kinda interrupts the flow.
I like them! Adds to the world in my opinion, plus they're funny. I'd agree with Phoenix up there that they might work better as chapter-ends or intermissions, though.
Using Star Wars terminology, Donna at this point is probably equivalent to a TIE interceptor driver. A bad guy, sure, but so low on the totem pole that nobody cares aside from the A-Wing pilot with dialogue who gets smoked by them.
This isMaerc Corporation. Of course, all things change.
I'm enjoying the Short Shots quite a bit. I find they enhance rather than distract.
It may make a difference that i'm bulk reading to get caught up so they don't make me wait for the longer strips, but i think they're a good thing.
(Then again, i alternate with single image Extra!s on T3C, so maybe i'm just covering my own wide butt)
Of course, being a year late makes my opinion a bit irrelevant.
Gonna let you in on some of the "secret sauce"--my ability to generate comics daily is what drives my consistent ability to get a Popular Now ranking on CF. I got real life obligations, I can't do that if every update takes 2-3 hours. Also, sometimes I just want to draw some pleasant curves--yes, I run on zero buffer. Hence Short Shots.
I do like how they sometimes continue or elaborate the main strips, and other times just give different peeks at things.
While i don't really try for the Popular Now these days (did tolerably well back on eMT and Actual web comics, but T3C is kind of a niche affair), that Also hits home for me. That's a lot of what started my single-image Extra!s; just being able to be Quick, Random, or Both.

I... may have some exceptionally lewd punchlines to run past you shortly.
(Trying desperately to avoid dropping political heat here...)
Or did Moneybags procure Funbags?

I used to have a buffer. I kind of miss it.
And then again, "problematic" kinda runs in the family.
