@sig: total invisibility is a mite more towards that ol' forbidden "magic" than I'm willing to take on here, so when I say "portray" I'm talking about Griffith being permanently off camera but still getting referred to. Perhaps as a sniper scout, perhaps as a forward air controller. "Griffith! Illuminate them for god's sake, the fast mover's inbound!" etc
the joke of course being that she's never seen in the flesh
Russian # 1: "Where are these shots coming from? There must be a sniper over there!"
Russian # 2: *looking through binoculars* "I can't see anything! It's like he's literally invisible..."
Eric and Brigham in cahoots? Talk about strange bedfellows!
Well... not literal bedfellows, like Pierre-Renard insinuates.
(Incidentally, the fact that LI members don't seem completely opposed to team up with government officials if deemed necessary kinda reaffirms an idea I had regarding an upcoming 30 Days character...)
Eric's been a pawn of the US government since Aleppo... I would remind you again that Liberty International is a lie.
Also Pierre-Renard is totally going to be written as a super cynical hard-as-nails French legionnaire "J'ai commis de grands crimes et donc le monde est ma prison"
Everything I've read is that there are approximately 4 times the number of man-portable AT weapons than Russian/Belarusian vehicles in Ukraine. It seems EVERY soldier/milita/volunteer/policeman/etc has at least one AT weapon on their back (RPG, M72, AT-4, Carl Gustav [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Gustaf_8.4cm_recoilless_rifle - sent in from Canada], Javelin, etc) or MANPADS (Stinger and the like); and sometimes BOTH.
Also, other than the Javelin, all of those can be called "light" AT weapons, and they are ALL taking out Russian armour AND tanks. This could be an example of completely overblown specs and details on Russian weapons systems.
The Russian conscripts don't seem to want to be there, the Reserves being called up are older and fatter than me, and now Putin's calling in mercenaries from Chechnya and Syria - which means the civilian death toll will rise exponentially.
I heard that them kinda munitions work fairly well on dismounted infantry as well
why use a flyswatter when you have a sledge hammer?
mercenaries--get paid as much as possible to do as little as possible and by all means don't let the war end. hope their paychecks aren't being cut in rubles
looking back on these pages, I'm AMAZED that lil ol' Ukraine was able to hold off the Russian Bear from taking out Kiev and stringing up their stand up comic president. no cartoon superheroes in that fight, just plain old cussedness and inspired small unit tactics
I guess I am from the future as far as this comic page is concerned, but I must say that when I continue reading I am a bit scared of how you may have handled the knife's edge balance act of political commentary, comedy and respecting the sheer horror and mass suffering that is real life war.
This isn’t a war comic so there won’t be many pages that depict actual combat/casualties.
There will be a fair amount of elites either being dismissive or directly trivializing the consequences of war. (I.e. typical American commentary on war.) It is ok to have a problem with the moral gymnastics involved with that mindset, it’s difficult to depict this non-dismissively as a creator. Obviously if I’m not managing that knife’s edge effectively it is ok to not read this comic.

however I could see some scenarios where they show up fighting alongside
(Jocko is--as always--along for the ride)
Good to have military backing, I guess

The situation is not at all funny though :*(
Deep breath, I'll continue reading now.
