Paging Buster Keaton! What not very many people know, since not many of us are such nerds, is that the train wreck in his magnum opus, The General, all happened on the Oregon, Pacific and Eastern railroad out of Cottage Grove, OR, including the locomotive plunge from the trestle. <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_General_(1926_film)>
Junior is a bona-fide douchebag. TBH, it is very fortunate that this happened in Anvil Flats and not in Autumn Bay. I hear there is someone in those parts that does not take kindly to tyrants, no matter how petty.
On another note, and this is something that I hear myself say with regularity whilst reading these pages: holy shit!
Dude, that failed assassination is taking on mythic proportions in my mind
For the rest of you, know this: at the end of our cooperative work Cryptida: Playground Eric Macdonald was supposed to blow up Joseph Drake’s private aircraft. But due to his unexpected appearance elsewhere, Drake could NOT be killed without a major continuity error. So effectively you have a comic character that dodged a metaphorical bullet… there’s plot armor, and then there’s a level above that, Lucasfilm and Disney take note
And here's Drake's unexpected appearance that lirv mentioned.
Since the consequences of Jane Doyle's death were an important plot point of this Cryptida chapter (Lorelei gets hired in her place), within the in-universe timeline it thus could only take place afterPlayground.
I even avoided showing Drake's and Tiny's dialogue to cover for the possibility that at the end of Playground they might... not be on friendly terms anymore.
(The crassest potential shake up of the status quo I could fathom at that time! I should probably mention that I did not know about lirv's plan outlined above.)
@lirvilas please do! It's the problem with rich bastards. Fines mean nothing. They have no shame. They are spared prison. They are mostly beyond consequences. And if they get their kicks hurting people they will continue until they've crippled or killed, possibly more than once
Pffft, Naomi can take the slap-slap-routine and she knows that's the service where she can charge the most. Better do the worry-worry about your finances now, Wabbits!
It'll be Maggie who will tell Donna everything, isn't it?
Good call from Naomi to let Maggie patch her up, instead of any shady doctors the Drakes may provide (to keep the circle of potential "whistleblowers" small) - although, I'd say the risk of ending up with unnecessary cyborg implants is still very high...
Dr. Ashton is into the squishy side of cybernetics, and Drake’s people are more into the hardware. What’s the term where a mad scientist is a polymath and good at everything? Maggie’s all DNA and neurons and is relatively clueless about orbital mechanics and strange quarks.
Also this isn’t the first time Naomi’s gone to Maggie with “it hurts when I pee” sorta issues
It's a commune of comic artists. I swear that Lirv, Microraptor, Stilldown and the Professor (for starters) must catalogue, cross reference each others comics to be able to pull these references up. When I try to find a reference, it can take hours if I find it at all. You people are amazing.
eh, tbh there's significant portions of the others' comics that I'm blind on, it's just particular characters that I'll search out and read up on repeatedly (see: Falchionne, Bishop, Felicia, Bettina, Weishaupt, etc). Also I save references locally.
Something is weird at Top Web Comics. For the last two days, I have been able to vote twice 12 hours apart. I discovered this by accident checking to see if I voted the Evening before. Happy Extra votes.
Naomi is physically tougher than most people give her credit for. Pole dancing, multiple elective surgeries, autoerotic asphyxiation… she’s surprisingly robust.
It's a career path only a short-sighted fool would take (unless they happen to be a masochist mabe), because the long term effects of repeated injuries can be quite severe, just ask any pro athlete, particularly one retired from contact sports. The human body, generally speaking, has amazing recuperative capabilities, but you can only heal wounds so many times before things begin to break down permanently.
Oh! Oh wait! She meant with—-
ohshit.
even good girls can learn to be deceptive
On another note, and this is something that I hear myself say with regularity whilst reading these pages: holy shit!
I can always count on you for quality smut.
so we better figure out how to save ourselves
(sure I'm talking about Anvil Flats)
Sense she's unmarried does this Town need another Doyle?
Anvil Flats needs its raw materials
there's more than meets the eye here, but rest assured the kids'll be all right
you know, I was going to go to the next chapter tomorrow, but I think I'll empty the whole damn spice rack into this hash
then we'll get back to the meatFor the rest of you, know this: at the end of our cooperative work Cryptida: Playground Eric Macdonald was supposed to blow up Joseph Drake’s private aircraft. polite criminals like these characters roll with private security details that are a dozen men deep per shift
they know in their bones that accountability can come way faster than anyone in this country cares to admit
Luckily a “friend” is coming to deal with the Drakes

But the fact he qualified "especially Donna" really shows how much the woman is feared.
It’s fucking fear brohe's not looking because he's afraid
we all know that given the chance Donna would totally bang SlendermanI had her booked for a stretcher case, at the very least.
Oh...yeah, time for a new chapter!
