Mad scientists do seem to have a tendency to vanish.

Yeah, if I was a mad scientist, I'd steer clear of all of that particle physics stuff and just stick with tampering in God's domain.

Not like you've had your own Mad Scientist disappear has it?

Right? It's almost like dicking around with weird glowing shit is a bad idea or something.

I thought she was using the jacket as a groundsheet...

Which gets me into the various Canadian military terms for those of Donna's...disposition...
"Regimental groundsheet"
"Base Blanket"
"Shack rat"
"Squadron drip-pan (a steel tray we use to catch oil drips under vehicles)"

tbh as long as nobody gets too possessive I don't see what the problem is with that behavior, it's deeply and repeatedly patriotic

Judging from the first panel, it appears they got it on before the info (and probably a couple STDs) was transmitted.

Wait-wait...Where's my friend Naomi? Should be Donna's first concern, too. Not that I care about that Dr.West-Flokatihead-Frankenstein wanna-be.

THAT is a good question and one I will eventually get around to answering

the short of it is that Donna and Naomi are not on good terms

I saw the "boom". That's just them covering their tracks...

Although a glowey-green "augmented reality control system" is eerily similar to a certain other Mad Scientist's creation in the same comic from where Maggie originated...

...And it seems to me as if that was also used in various of your/MR's comics...

Ooh, that actually interesting stuff. I did have to look up what an augmented reality control system is though, and it sounds really cool.

I was hanging with some people in the late 1900s who were laying the groundwork for that in an industrial automation context. SRI and PARC had their fingers in that pie.

"the late 1900s"

oh god that phrase makes me feel fucking old

(but yeah, as I was explaining to the young 'uns today, DOD doesn't do research... they contract it out)

Wow, congratulations for successfully pulling that twist!
I would never have guessed Maggie to be there, even with the clue you gave!

But of course, this poses even more questions than it answers...
Who is responsible for Maggie's repeated disappearance?
Liberty International?
Elliot Maerc??
Dr. Morag???
A certain rival company that is likewise dabbling in this augmented reality stuff???
(BTW, ToyCo's version will - at least that's the plan - get a bit more spotlight after Halloween...)

At first, what I thought was a sandbank in Panel 3 looks as if it's a white boat.
I wonder if it's the same one that was at the Straits of Malacca?
Microraptor 13th Sep 2022, 11:57 AM edit delete reply
Microraptor
I see the boat too now!

However, in light of what's revealed in the next page, it's probably rather this boat.
It's not just for endless pool parties apparently.
(Makes me wonder if Agent Xenon was somehow involved there...)
